ASK FOR YOUR BRICK!
There is soooooooooooooo much you can do with it.
We built a matching mailbox. If not that, a walkway in your yard or flower box or something :)
Love it!!
First ones in our neighborhood to do it, lets see if I have any followers...I hope so, such a nicer look.
Above, all those deer in our yards, GO AWAY, they eat all my stuff!! |
I am so impressed - that mailbox looks amazing! I can't believe that's a DIY project. That's such a clever use of the leftover brick.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea, did you need approval from your HOA?
ReplyDeleteOwen our HOA really doesn't exist right now. LOL. we are only into the 2nd phase of 4 phases and building has come to a hault and no roads are being built we are all stumped. So we have a company that takes our money. I asked them and there was nothing in our guidelines that said we couldn't, so Im clear.
DeleteBeautiful! Great idea!
ReplyDeleteI love it. I'm going to see if we can do the same.

Thanks Nick E, I just added you to my blog :)
DeleteThat's awesome! Good call on asking for the left overs! I'm always so shocked by what I see in the dumpster around our house! I may have to start dumpster diving.
ReplyDeleteLaurLew, we trimmed out our entire basement by dumpster diving. LOL. The house next to us for some reason must have ordered too much baseboards, and literally threw them all away, we went in and grabbed it all, nothing wrong with it. LOL..I have no shame :)
DeleteYour mailbox looks great! We saved our brick too. My husband built a fireplace with an electric insert in the basement with it.
ReplyDeleteI would love to see pictures of that project too! How hard was that to do? Did he have a plan to go by?
DeleteHow hard was this to do?? What a great idea!
ReplyDeleteKatie T, We are super DIY'ers but brick laying is a craft like concrete work, we hired a bricklayer who did it all in one day. One day!!!
DeleteThat's great idea. Too bad we don't have individual residential mailbox.
ReplyDeleteWe used our left over bricks in the garden.

That's an awesome mailbox, it will especially be nice in the winter when the plows come through. There's no way that thing is gonna get knocked down!
ReplyDeleteI've read your entire blog because I'm also building a Savoy in the Western NY/Buffalo area and it has been very helpful. I'm doing a blog of my own at http://savoyryanhome.blogspot.com/ to document our experience. Thanks!
MDM,I am so glad I could help, its why I blog!! Anything you need please just ask me. I am very happy to help. I just added you to my blog, its so exciting, building was the super fun part, it was after the house was built things can get a little crazy with repairs. But I don't regret anything, except a bay window..lol
DeleteDid you ever take down the wall under your foyer steps? I have a savoy and having a hard time finding out if I can do it
ReplyDeleteWE decided NOT to do it. After research, we realized so much noise would travel throughout the house. If we leave open the door to the basement and people are down there playing video games and we are upstairs in the living room watching TV, noise travels so much. It was a super cool concept, but decided against it, I still think it would look super cool!!!!
