Newest Addition & 10 Month Inspection Start

My name is DWtimes2 and I am a blogging addict. :)

There I said it!

My newest addition is a find from Kirkland's for our living room wall.

I try and go weekly to there and Home Goods to catch the latest deal.

This addition cost me $32..yup $32! Cha Ching!

It's tough finding BIG pieces to cover these walls that are cheap and match.

Now I just don't know if I go with a gray paint or sage?

(btw hate my furniture, but somehow trying to make it work)

I need something in that corner (a cheap fix) not sure what though, so my weekly adventures with my mom continues...shout out to my MOM, she is my BFF and partner in crime!

On another note, the drywallers from H&M were here yesterday and got half of the nails pops and seams done in the home.  Another day will be scheduled for the other half of the home.  They seemed very professional and very clean guys. I love that when they sanded the wall they actually held a shop vac under to minimize sand dust :) And they vacummed and wiped, oh yes wiped, the floors when they were done too.  I'm pleased.

Oh the do the fixing and sanding and also paint as well in case anyone was wondering.

They fixed all the areas I had taped without question.

The walls they worked on seem to look in pretty good shape now. Living room is done and I'm itching to paint it!  Only prob is taking down the damn monster of a TV! urghh!

Now what's odd is that my 10 month repairs have started but I have yet to meet with the guy handling them...IDK. Our meeting is on Nov. 18th.  The dry wall was our biggest issue.

Example of one area in my study!  My OCD kicks in and drives me and my one son crazy with the tape marks!  Makes us anxious, but it I guess it has to stay there until the next appt. for drywall. Don't know when that will be :)

till next time.........Happy Blogging!

  1. Love reading your blog DW. Since hubby was really not in favor of blogging I didn't start my own. Like you, Kirklands and Homegoods are weekly stops. Along with Hobby Lobby and Garden Ridge. That picture matches the colors and geometric patterns of your pillows perfectly

    1. I just heard about Hobby Lobby from a neighbor, guess I'll check it out, still not sure what kind of store it is though??

    2. I would say it is a combination craft store and home decor store. Like if Michael's and Homegoods combined to make a store. I think they are a little more expensive than Garden Ridge and Homegoods BUT they have really good weekly sales, and usually 50% off. About a month ago I purchased a large wall clock at 50% off. And last week all the Christmas decor was 50% off and all flameless candles were 50% off, so I picked up a few of those.

    3. DB I tried going yesterday only to find out it's like Chi Fil A, closed on Sundays. I was like Oh Man, that's a half hour drive for me...LOL But we went to Garden Ridge, I can never find anything there for a good price that interests me, IDK if they have TOO much or what! DB sorry again since you dont have a blog I forget what kind of home your built? And give me a "hint" what area? I love your tips!!

    4. Aww sorry you made that trip only to find they were closed. Good for them, bad for us! I built a Florence in the L.R. community. I am only about 7 miles from Robinson. That is why I get into so much trouble! And if I work from home, sometimes I have 'lunch' at Kirklands or Homegoods :-). Garden Ridge is hit or miss for me. But you are right they have so much stuff, it can be overwhelming.

  4. That's so weird that they started your repairs and you haven't even met the service manager yet. The manager was the first to show up at our house on November 1st (our appointment date) and he was in and out of the house all day. I need to blog about our repairs...

    1. M, yes please blog about repairs. I thought it was weird, I have never even spoke to my service manager, we have emailed but never really had a convo! So I dont know what to expect. Do the SM do repairs also? He is talking about "bringing" things for repairs?

    2. Our service manager over saw the work that everyone else was doing. He pointed out a couple of spots that the drywall guys missed here and there... and he was basically the decision maker about what was and wasn't going to be repaired.

    3. M, hmmmm there seems to be no decision making, I say it's wrong and they just fix it :) Maybe its better this way..LOL

    4. Well he didn't really say no on anything... like when we discussed the carpet on the stairs (see my blog) he said they could tack it back down and we said we would really like it to be all one piece of carpet like it was originally and he said he would call the carpet people and get it scheduled. So that's what I meant by him being the decision maker.

    5. M, I cant leave a comment on your blog, there is not a comment section?

    6. At the very bottom of the post, under the labels, there should be a link to add a comment. Just click the link and it should open the comment box.

    7. M, nope I cannot see any of your comments on your blog, I think I tried leaving one when you posted about the fireplace and I couldnt then either! Bummer!! There is no place for me to comment, wonder what's going on.

    8. I changed the format of my blog a bit and now I see an actual comment box instead of just the link. Please let me know if it still doesn't work for you.

    1. Colette original price was $300, now we all know we never really pay full price at Kirklands, but that is the original sticker. I am still excited.
