Hardest thing to do is get wall decor in place, its so challenging.....
Here is the dining room as of March 2, 2013.
it is so tough to get this entire room in one shot...
My view from the dining room, fresh snow this AM in Pennsylvania.... |
The seams in the ceilings they tried to fix, well...........they made them worse and now the entire master has to be re-texturized and painted..........PM said they fix was horrific.
Sigh :(
One good thing is that I am picking my own paint (hate RH's) and they will use that......on a positive note.
They will prob also be doing the same to the downstairs, the repair job was worse than the fix...again Sigh!
My first GAS bill was $500, OMG I dont feel like typing that disaster!! But its getting corrected after days of phone calls and gas readings and what a mess, why is everything such a FIGHT?
****Future and current builders, please know that you will continue on after you move in, I was under my own misconception we would move in and..............POW! Perfect home........uhhhh.......NOT! Just be prepared for possibly lots of repair work months into after you have been in the home...
_______________
Oh, and we ordered windows for our garage door...
We have a Wayne Dalton door, we went through the business that installed the original door through RH and they give us a big discount...
Not my home, just pic of the garage windows. They are called Stockton 1 windows. They will replace our entire panel. |
That's all for today................
Happy Decorating :)
Your dining room looks wonderful! So glad you got the garage door/windows figured out! Not looking forward to repairs, but looking forward to moving in!
ReplyDeleteYou are doing a great job - it's really pretty!
ReplyDeleteVery nice view; how is your Ryan Home doing keeping you warm in that weather?
As bad as it is to have to go through the fixes, at least your PM is willing to do it right. That's a good thing.
its pretty warm in here, the fireplace really kicks some heat in the living room...
DeleteNice! I like the furniture...Do you mind sharing where you bought your curtains?
ReplyDeleteJoiful, I got those curtains believe it or not at Sears..yup Sears they were $10 a panel and I have 4 on a window.
DeleteThe dining room looks nice!
ReplyDeleteReally love the color of your hardwood floor. I know exactly what you mean when it comes to not feeling the room is complete until you have it painted. We're waiting for our first year, and then we're going to paint and add molding to our dining room, office, master bathroom, hallway (upstairs and downstairs), powder room and family room. I think we'll skip the kitchen, only because the cabinets with the molding may look funny with the molding, but we'll see.
ReplyDeleteOn another note, thanks for the comment on my family room. I understand that you have two teenage sons and I'm sure you guys use the room a lot. Right now, we hardly watch TV in the family room. Ideally, we want to finish our basement and have that for our main entertainment area. But I think that will be a few years out until we'll have the money to make that happen. I will be sure to take additional photos of other rooms I just feel like I want to do a before and after photo shoot once painting and molding is up.
oh good Danielle, please keep us updated...we all love pics of decor of our homes....
DeleteI love our hardwood too, someone should have told me how tough dark floors are hard to keep clean......LOL
WOW! The snow is non-stop! We have yet to get that kind of snow! #knockingonwood
ReplyDeleteI love the color of of your hardwood floors--they are beautiful! You are doing a great job with decorating and it's going to be even more comfy once it's painted. I am going to wait until after the 10 month inspection which gives me more time to decide on my colors.
Waiting for us is a must......we have so many boo boo's showing up, I am so glad we didnt paint, like I said they have to completely re do our master and you figure its still cold outside, what until summer hits and the house swells instead of shrinks, it will get interesting.....LOL
DeleteLove the dining room!
ReplyDeleteI just love all your decor in every room that you have shown so far, so elegant !!!.. how much were your windows for the garage? we were thinking about changing that panel to windows also!
ReplyDeleteFor our garage about $400 bucks...installed, it was more than I wanted to spend, but isnt everything? LOL...
DeleteI really like your design it looks more elegant and attractive to the others. Thanks for sharing!

Dining room looks beautiful!! But I do have a comment about painting before the 10 month inspection... It is SO worth it!! Here is the main reason: RH uses a flat white paint, which is genius on their part because it doesn't show the imperfections. Once we painted with our satin finish, we were able to see the CRAPPY drywall job that was done in many parts of our house. At our 30 (62 day) inspection, we showed our PM and he agreed. The owner of the drywall company came out and looked... And now they are going to fix all the lumpy, uneven, gouged walls/corners. And, they will reprint with my colors. I would have NOT seen these problems without using the satin finish (which is only one step up from flat) if I had waited until after the final inspection. They said they will still do the hundreds of nail pops and settling problems at the 10 month. My painter pointed out most of the problems to me and he even offered to touch up the walls after they fix them. Anyway, it is just something to think about....flat white doesn't show the real imperfections, which is why RH doesn't want you to paint until after their final inspection. Other than this real problem, I love my house!
ReplyDeleteHmmm Catherine, dear Catherine, you do make a compelling agrument...HMMMM, you are correct!! Maybe we will test a smaller room and see what happens...thanks for giving me some new perspective.....
DeleteMy PMs are great too, so if the wall we needed fixed, need painted, they would use what I gave them, I just wonder if....its such a large section, they will use A LOT of paint and I know they wont reimburse that cost cause we went against their suggestion....as I said they have to completely redo our master which is HUGE!! Now I am buying satin paint for them to use on that ceiling even though my PM said FLAT, nope not buying flat!!
You have me thinking now, may my living room needs painted???
My hubby will loovvveee that suggestion...we HATE to paint!!
thanks so much for the twist :)
I think for a ceiling, you do want to stick with flat. I'm pretty sure that's common in most homes... The walls however...flat is WAY too hard to clean.
DeleteWOW!
DeleteGreat feedback Catherine!!
Good taste!

ReplyDeleteI’m impressed, I have to say. Really hardly ever do I encounter a blog that’s both educative and entertaining, and let me inform you, you might have hit the nail on the head. Your idea is outstanding; the problem is something that not sufficient people are speaking intelligently about. I am very joyful that I stumbled across this in my seek for something referring to this.
Why Tony thanks so much for the kind words. I'm curious exactly which part did you find most informative?
