RECLAIMED BARNWOOD ACCENT WALL! PICS! FAVORITE THING EVER.

Hi all!!

Haven't been around for awhile. We have been FINISHING OUR BASEMENT BY OURSELVES! Gesh, it has taken months. I will post more of that LATER, because I had to share the most favorite thing we have EVER done inside the HOUSE.

It's all the rage, RECLAIMED WOOD. 

What can you do with it???

 You name it you can do it.  BUT you have to find REAL Authentic Barn Wood.  Which is not easy to find in good condition.  So I creeped on Craiglist for weeks to finally find someone only 10 min away from us.  We do live all around farmland, so this guy had knocked down a real barn and knew he could sell the planks.

I hand picked each one.  It took awhile, but I wanted character in each one :)

Starts with surfing craigslist for weeks :), Then Finally hit the jackpot!

 Hubby was super patient with me as he was NOT as excited as I do this project. At first I was going to do a Pallet Wall, turned out that is a real pain in the ass to disassemble and stain those, so I was determined to do Reclaimed Barn Wood. (btw, hubby loves as much as I do)

Notice that ugly ass pole above pic!! We'll fix that.

 First make sure you first board is level, and it helps that all boards are pretty much the same width.

 Find those studs to nail into, just into the drywall and the boards are going to pop back out at you.

Now I back peddle a bit....., I had read to paint the wall behind black or put of some type of board up. Totally NOT necessary. You cannot see the paint/wall between the boards at all.  Hubby was right on that one. :) OK, OK, he usually is....in DIY projects that is.

We just kept cutting the pieces with a circular saw to stagger them. It was actually one of the easiest projects we have ever done.

I'm going to decorate, but just enjoying the natural beauty of it for now :)

Also did the poles with the reclaimed wood. It ties in perfectly.

Love the variation in the wood. BTW, we checked for bugs, it was stored in another dry barn, we tried sealing or staining it and it just took away from the rustic look we were going for, so we just lightly brushed each board then used compressed air to clean off and that was all we did to it.

Loving this look and so proud of us for achieving it :)
